What I don’t understand is if my print comes out looking a curtain way add I bump up anything in post. It’s still the same stock of paper I used last year.

Not sure on how to remove the old and install the new ones?īut if these old profiles worked before with good results shouldn’t they still work. I haven’t changed anything changed anything. So is this the same as disabling the colour management on the printer setup screen?Īs for ICC profiles. If you are letting Photoshop control the colour management and have not disabled colour management on the printer setup screen, the two conflicting set of colour information might be the problem.I select no colour management, and let PS manage colours. You did not get back to me on your colour management process. Have you updated the Epson ICC profiles for your printer? Epson changed its whole paper lineup a number of years ago and the old profiles had to be updated. I’ve printed about 20 4圆 prints that look the same no matter what I change. Using the same paper profiles on the same paper that I’ve used before which gave me beautiful prints. Power cleaning the head/alignment/triple check my settings/redo calibration. No matter what I do in post processing (increase contrast/reduce brightness) trying to add more black (yes I’m in photo black) the prints come out looking almost identical to the one before. My prints keep coming out dull/low contrast. Everything is the same except updates to the programs/software/and OS (Windows 10) also started using Capture One 21. But haven’t done much the past year and just getting back into it, and back to frustration.

First couple of years I was frustrated with not getting good print than after researching I ended up buying an Eizo CG277 monitor and calibrated it and finally was getting great results. But you have to have the high-quality source material.I have an Epson 3880 that I’ve had for a few years. With certain images you may get even more out of your 3880 if you also turn on 16-bit printing and 2880 dpi. You might see a difference between sRGB and a larger color space if you shot raw, process well, print glossy on nice exhibition paper, edit in 16-bit, and if your photo has colors that extend beyond the borders of sRGB. What is important is that if you are aiming for highest quality, you should go beyond sRGB, but you'll only realize the benefits if you didn't compromise color quality at any of the other steps of your process. The benefits of larger color spaces are not cut and dried. Since both only change the profile for the output copy, you don't mess up your originals. When printing to the Epson 3880, just set the printer profile to the correct combo of 3880+paper profile. When exporting to Smugmug, just set the output profile to sRGB in the Lightroom Export dialog or Photoshop Save for Web dialog. Keep your originals in ProPhoto RGB, which is done automatically for you if you're in Lightroom. Sorry for the rambling questions, but I'm not 100% I understand the print process when it comes to color space. Or is it just that sRGB prints come out very good, and the convenience of online printing, simply makes that the best choice in general? So if I wanted the absolute best print, with as many colors as I could possibly get, would I need to print directly from photoshop/lightroom to these printers?Ĭan the differences even be seen to the human eye? I got the impression that these inkjet printers can actually print beyond the sRGB color space.

However I was recently watching a video regarding printing on some Epson printers like the Stylus Pro 3880. This is the profile required by post commercial printers (I read this in SmugMug help). Now when I upload images to smugmug, I know they are turned into high quality JPEGs, and assigned an sRGB color profile. All of this happens within the PhotoPro color space. I have just recently started to actually understand the relationships between the different color spaces like sRGB, Adobe RGB, and PhotoPro.Ĭurrently my workflow has me shooting RAW, into Lightroom and Photoshop when needed.
